about

This song is a dialogue between a tree and a man who it had given shelter. It is a retrospective view from the man after he becomes a corporate deforester and destroys all but the stump of the red wood that was his home. The tree leaves him with the warning that it will come to haunt him.

lyrics

If I remember correctly you were a rotting wood
in a red wood forrest from near I lived
Do you remember me dear hollow that I loved
You were the first home that i had ever had

But Oh with time
You'll get your's and I'll
get mine

Like Newton's apple I gave your small world gravity
But you took my life and you took my meaning too
It was a lonely winter and I had no family
Because you had forsaken the tree that gave you love and gave you shelter

But Oh with time
You'll get your's and I'll
get mine
